North Wales full day tour example

This day tour of North Wales is designed for those that would like to see a lot in a little time and get a taste of Spectacular Scenery, Castles and Culture of Wales. This tour example is through Snowdonia National Park and Conwy Valley visiting Conwy and Caernarfon Medieval towns.

  • Conwy Medieval Town and Castle: here we make our first stop for a short walking tour to see the massive 13thc castle a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Edward I, which dominates the town. If feeling energetic walk on the medieval walls which go right round the town built to keep the English safe and the Welsh out! See the ‘Smallest House in Britain’, and take time to browse individual craft shops and explore narrow lanes.
  • Conwy Valley: follows the river Conwy through lush sheep grazing pastures and crossed by an old Roman road, with a 1000 year old Celtic church hidden down a narrow lane  and standing on the site of an old Roman Fort.
  • Refreshments: Stop in a traditional pub or try Welsh cakes and cream tea in a local cafe. Or to experience a whole lot more in your day keep on the go and picnic by a waterfall on homemade delicious snacks purchased from a local bakery.
  • Betws y Coed: is the ideal place to make a short stop for shopping or photos of the tumbling rocky rivers.
  • Swallow Falls will be our next photo stop to see the dramatic gorge setting and these spectacular falls.
  • Snowdonia National Park: is one of the highlights of our day, covering 823 square miles we see mountains and lakes and Mount Snowdon (weather permitting) which at 3560 ft is the highest mountain in England and Wales and lends its name to the largest National Park in Wales.
  • See the Slate Quarries: as we descend the Llanberis Pass that sit as black scars on the mountainside evidence of North Wales Industrial History when ‘Wales once Roofed the World’.
  • Visit Wales National Slate Museum: set on the banks of Llyn Padarn.
  • Caernarfon Castle: we make a short stop in the town for photos of this mighty castle built by Edward I to be his Imperial Palace and headquarters of the New Territory, and is where in 1969 Prince Charles was Invested Prince of Wales.
  • Anglesey: our last stop. We drive across the Menai Suspension Bridge built in 1826 by Thomas Telford to join the Island to mainland North Wales and on to visit the tongue twisting place of ‘Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch’ and village with the longest name before driving back to our destination.

Please note: this is only a summary itinerary and entrance fees to attractions are not included in any tour.
